I have been busy today: feeling like a fotographer. wink wink.
Of course i'm not that good in photography, but i love taking fotos. Yesterday night i got a message from my daughter's modelling agency to have a time to take fotos of Zendra at home this weekend. They will need 3 or 4 fotos by Monday. This is for an important casting for a catalogue (top secret for now). The client wants to see normally photos at home, not the ones from the studio taken by professional photographers. No effect, no make ups, no anything on the head, no editing at all. So here i was, trying to mix and match clothes for my little girl. Some stuffs are new and some are old ones (which she still haven't worn). I'm not a perfect fashionista, so i rely on kid's catalogues. the last H&M outfit is almost exactly what the girl wears in their winter catalogue.

Aside from the text message, i got another email, asking me again some latest fotos, for an important casting for a kid's fashion show. They already stated when and where and for what brand Zendra might be modelling. It's not in Milan and it's a week day sometime in November, for winter collection. If i send fotos, and they will confirm Zendra, will i go to the event? will my boss give me a two-day vacation again? This would be the first fashion show for Zendra. Gosh! Would love to see her walking that fashion ramp stage. Scary too, for i don't know if she'll be ok about it. With those loud music and people around, i hope she doesn't get shy or further more, cry. Aw! Although she always utter to me, "Mamma, voglio fare la sfilata" (Ma, i like to be in a fashion show"), i still have to cross all my fingers. I really need to think about it.

Last but not the least, these fotos also serve as "dress rehearsal" for her upcoming fotoshoot on location. It's a special project. Hang in there for further notice. =)

And while we're busy changing clothes and posing, a breaktime is truly needed. thanks to my hub for making an effort to cook empanada for us (foto up). So yummy! Of course, it's one of my favorite pinoy pastries. He knows how to cook a lot of stuffs unlike me. Hub's the real cook in the family. I'm a certified eater only! =)

Aside from her eyes, her lips are just "perfect".
My adorable princess, who else could have been the proudest? (wink wink)

And There it Goes...(Again)

8:20am: Me and Zendra went out to bring Jaki to school.

8:30am: Zendra was with me at the bank to get some money.

8:50am: Zendra and i are waiting for her school to open up.

9:00am: bell rings. headed inside the school.

Zendra's not so excited to go to school. she's fine when i dressed her up this morning. i bid goodbye to her and her teacher elisa brought her into her arms.

9:15am: i loaded my internet key, then bought a bottle of fresh milk.

9:18am: i am home, ready to make the laundry.

9:20am: Preschool on the phone: "ma'am you need to get your daughter as soon as possible. She doesn't stop crying. we measure her temperature, she got 37.9°C of fever."

Me: "oh...poor little girl. i'm coming."

9:40am: i signed some routine papers and got Zendra out of the school.

9:50am: we're home, and she vomitted. she's very warm. poor daughter of mine =(

flu is here again. the change of weather isn't helping so much.

hope she gets better soon.

Prepping Zen

I have read some fun, sad, stressful, funny "first-day-of-school" tales of moms, and i guess i can categorized myself to the "fun" adjective. Not to mention the word, "lucky". I will hate not to state here how did Zendra end up in pre-school today.
Last February, the pre-school enrollment opened online, and i filled-up everything required to write and send. The partial list of the kids accepted were posted on-line last June, as well as the respective schools of choice. I saw Zendra's name with a status: "waiting for school confirmation". i have to wait for the Yes or No answer. Uncertainty could be saddening. July 1st came and still no news. Zendra have no place yet.

I don't know if i have to pray too, to the greek Gods/Goddesses so she can have her place. They already deny her last year, because they said, "Sorry Ma'am, you didn't confirmed". I told them, i didn't get any call or reply, how can i confirm? well, that was past, this time i am so attentive to the fone calls and emails. Zendra can't miss this year.

July 18, i was busy having my pedicure/manicure, when my fone rang at 3:45pm....
(I will tell the story here in english version)

School: Ma'am, Zendra is accepted at Via Capuana, can you come by and sign some papers. bring all your/and kid's documents.

Me: you mean now?

School: Yes, ma'am. be here at 4pm, otherwise we will close and your daughter will not be accepted anymore.

Me: Ok..i'm coming. Please wait for me.

Good thing, my hands and left foot are done. my right foot isn't. The heck! i told my aunt (who's doing my other foot), "i need to run, stay here with Zendra, please."
---
Good thing the bus is almost there when i go down. The school is only 4 stops from our house. At 5 minutes to 4pm i was already in school. I told them someone called me to bring all the documents.

Woman: It's not here. You have to go to the main office at Via Arsia.
Me: (To myself) "What the hell?" They didn't tell me (i didn't ask either) if i will go to the main school or main office. Daaaaaang! It's almost 4pm. Deadline is up! I keep calling all the saints and greek Gods.
"Venus, goddess of love, let the love flow on whoever was there at the office. it's almost close."

The main office is almost 3 stops from the school. Oh My, i can't make it. The bus time says: 10 minutes. without even thinking i really run as if it's a matter of life and death. I arrived around 4:15pm.

Woman: Nope i can't let you enter, it's close.
Me: Please, please. i need to confirm my daughter. we're leaving early tomorrow morning. for our vacation in the Philippines. i can't go back tomorrow.
Woman: I'll call upstairs. wait.
Me: Thanks so much. "she's so strict, never smiling"..i'm murmuring.
Woman: Ok, go upstairs, they're waiting for you.

Good heavens. THANK you LORD!
Zendra's confirmed and i will have a less stressful vacation.

After the interview last week, this is the DAY!
I am more excited than ever before. First thing first, earrings has to go. We have a notice not to put accessories, jewelries or pointed hairpins, etc. it's all for the kids' security. I remember my friend's daughter, Maxim. Maxim's earrings ended up at one kid's mouth. Not too good. So, i wouldn't want that. Earrings can be worn during weekends now.

I met again Zendra's teachers, Cinzia and Elisa. They're so accomodating and lively. Zendra was introduced to kids in the room. Zendra said "Ciao" and waved back. "Good vibes eto ah." I uttered to myself.
A male kid burst into tears once he saw the room. His mother run to the rescue and held him in her arms. I expected Zendra's cry, but she didn't! When she saw the toy kitchen stuffs, she immediately play there. i just sat near her. Today, moms are allowed inside the room to see how the kids are adjusting to the new kids and school environment. "Hindi na ako pinansin, busy na sa toys."

I love to observe kids. Zendra is doing a great job. Silent but mendling with the kids without a problem. Some females are so chimpanzee-like clinging to their moms. One male kid wet his pants, one attacking the wall, some throwing toys, and some girls squeaking. I can't imagine how the two teachers manage to be alive in 7 hours with these kids, hahaha. they're so good!

In 1 hour and a half, Zendra had been a good girl. I can't wait for tomorrow where moms are not alowed anymore inside the room. Will i hear her shrieks?
I'll tell you tomorrow.

Jaki's First Day in School

School was already closed since June 11 of this year. 3 months of vacation is long enough for my son to enjoy. One book of assignments and things to read and review was given to them, so during vacation, they have something to study. (i mean the moms have something more to do)
All the things are ready by the weekend. i divided into 2 plastic bags the stuffs because it's too heavy for my son to bring in school. "Bring the other things on Tuesday", i told Jaki.

I woke up around 6:10am. Kids are still so asleep, as well as my hub. I washed up and get into my jogging outfit. i hope i can be a biggest (weight) loser this year. It's hard to compete oneself. Running towards the park, i already see a lot of people waiting for the bus. It's the first day of school. Expect the traffic and full buses, trains and trams. At 7 am i went back home, boil water, heat the rice and fried some eggs. I only drink 1 glass of pineapple juice. nothing more. "konting sacrifice, wag na muna mag rice sa breakfast." i'm talking to my self.

Zendra woke up first before his brother Jaki. Is she more excited to accompany his brother in school? =)

By 8:00am kids are already ready. hub just bid goodbye going for work. I am still watching the morning news and Jaki asked, "Mamma, che ora andiamo" (What time will we go out?) I guess my son is too excited to see his classmates. "alle 8:10, andiamo fuori." (we'll be out by 8:10am), i answered. His school is just a 5-minute walk from our house, so more or less we'll be there so early today.

It can be sometimes strange when some of the memories can remain so clearly in my mind about Jaki's very first day in first grade school. We approached the classroom assuring him everything's gonna be fine. He knows i'm not gonna be with him the whole day. New school, classmates, teachers can be a fearful one. Then the bell rang. I kissed him goodbye and i can see he's almost "crying face". But, seeing him holding the teachers hand is a bit comforting. I know he can make it through that day. And he did!

This is gonna be his last year in this school. So, i wish him good luck!

forever grateful

I’ve made a million wishes

That one day, I’d have a little girl

And now that you’re here

It all still seems a little surreal

But I suppose,

That’s the way being a mother is,

And how happiness can feel

I’m just grateful that I have you

After all this time

And I'll be loving you

For the rest of my life

Grateful to God,

Grateful to You, my dearest ZENDRA!
