Another Celebration

My mom-in-law's real plan was to eat out at the restaurant. but, we tried having our reservations, but the restaurant's full. almost all the restaurants we called! so, she decided to have an urgent grocery and our friend (who's a good cook) fastly made 4 meals in a half day! wow! pancit, sweet and sour meatballs, menudo, friend chiken & shrimps and leche flan. no birthday cake! =) my husband didn't expect those menus because, he had a simple celebration last saturday already with his close pals and had some drinks.

but, anyway, my mom-in-law invited some close friends over and i invited mine too.

while everybody in the dining/kitchen are busy, my two kids were busy with their things. Jaki with my hub's new Ipad, Zendra with cutting papers...then both of them with Ipod's. When my friend Winnie's daughter arrived, Zendra had her playmate. i would say that Zendra's still not used to having someone around in the house to play with her own toys. she always grab it right away and sometimes push her playmate. sigh...i hope she's not like that in school. i was a bit embarassed Zendra hurting other kids. but, anyway, kids are just kids, i'm glad my friend (the mother of Maxim) really understand. the girls had a great time too with Jona, cousin of Winnie.

the small party lasted until 10pm.

Hub's (Early) Birthday Bash

It's All Saint's Day! We don't exactly have plans today. we just see it as a non-working holiday and my husband thought of just staying home. But the thought of lazying inside the house for almost 2 weeks with sick zendra and jaki, i guess i need a breather.

Me: "Babes, labas naman tayo, holiday naman. bukas, birthday mo, me pasok na mga kids at tayo sa work, wala na tayong chance to roam around man lang."

Hub: "O? Sa'n tayo?"

Me: "Dun na lang sa Parco Sempione, malapit lang. maglalaro lang kids sa park..."

Hub: "Eh sa'n tayo kakain ng lunch?"

(silence)
Me: "O sige na nga sa centro na tayo, sa Duomo, oks na kahit sa Mcdo."

My husband dialed my mom's number and invited her. I didn't know they talked about where to eat for lunch. The last thing i know, we were headed towards a restaurant, not McDonald's. Today is the first day of November, so it means we need to pay again for the traveller's card for the whole month. (30euro!) I assumed the bar near us is close because it's a holiday so i didn't bring with me my travel card. instead i have with me a normal ticket (1.50euro for 90 minutes).

Mom said to me: "Ayun, bukas pala yung bar..load ka na..."
Me: "Hindi ko na nga dinala yung tessera (card) ko..yaan mo na, bumili naman ako ng ticket, baka mahuli pa ng inspector."

So, we got the number 57 bus for milan center, then transferred to Tram N. 2 for Duomo. Mom suddenly gosh. "Ay, wala pa pala akong load sa card!"
Me: "Ikaw na nga nagsabi sa akin na bukas ang bar to load, tapos ikaw pala ang walang load. buti na lang walang inspector...me multa ka sana."

So we went down at Duomo and mom headed to bar. while waiting for her, hub and i go inside OVS department store. He touched a cute light brown coat and said, "ganda nito...isukat mo!"
Me: "Ay oo nga, 'yan ang type ko, maiksi lang", so i got the size 42 (the only size after size 44 hanging on the stand)
Hub: "Ayun ang mirror".

So, i looked at myself wearing the nice coat. My hub handed me his card.

Me: "Talaga? Bibilhin mo for me? Mahal ow..look ang price...69.99euro"
Hub: "Bagay sa'yo eh. sige na, mamya expired na 'yang card after 1 hr." he kidded.

I was really grinning excitedly while i line up at the cashier. It's my hub's birthday tomorrow and i'm supposed to give him a gift, but everytime his birthday is near, he's the one giving me.

I was actually wearing a black blazer today.
Hub: "isuot mo na agad...."
I tear off the tag and smilingly wear the nice brown coat. See? It's all i'm wearing in the fotos!

My husband bought a jacket and my mom a winter boots. Jaki bought pokemon cards and only Zendra have been "empty-handed".

Me: "madami na syang shoes and clothes. new boots lang kulang."
Mom: "me nakita ako, bibilhin ko..."

Me: "basta black!"

We saw an elephant again and my son, Jaki wanted to have a picture. So, we just decided to walk...and hub took some pictures. =)

I haven't been to 999 restaurant that my mom recommended.

when we arrived around 2pm, we saw a very long line outside the door. the restaurant must be full, i

thought. we didn't have reservations, so we need to wait for some free tables. the place is big though. then a waiter called us. "Table for four?" then, we went inside.

Whew! too many customers today.

it's an eat all you can lunch today!
you can ask foods to be grilled/fried or steamed, then eat as long as you can. wow!
will i be tempted? =)

i headed to the buffet corner. oh my! every delicious foods are present! i warn myself: "diet, diet, diet"...hahaha.

"titikim lang ako" (i whispered to myself)

i took some sushi and some chicken with mushrooms for the first plate.

for my 2nd plate, i tried the rice sticks, vegetable rolls, tiny vinegar soaked cucumbers and smiley circle fries.

of course, my daughter was curious of the fries, she kept on looking at the circle fries while biting and putting her finger at the eyes.

Jaki's not an "eat all" boy, so he sticks to his pizza habit, some chicken nuggets and sausages.

Hub ordered some grilled shrimp with mushrooms and potatoes. it took him more than 20 minutes in line though before he finally eat. but, it's worth the wait.

so, that was it for today. a simple blow-out and get away. by the way, my hub's sweat shirt was my mom's gift to him from Rome. my hub understand that i can't afford to buy him a gift now. i'm earning less (just one fourth of his salary, putal lang 'yung kita ko)! i still can't work full-time because of the kids. but i will make it up to him this christmas. we'll gonna celebrate my hub's birthday on sunday when my mother-in-law visit us.

For today's Thank God It's Five-Day..i will rephrase the acronym to T.hank G.od I.'m F.ORTY!

1) Quote for today: "Looks like 18, feels like 14, acts like 8: that makes me 40!"

2) Menu for today: Pancit, fried Chicken, Siopao and Balut. not exactly the usual bday menus, but they're all gifts to me. love to eat all of it!

3) Greetings for Today: I copied all the facebook greetings. can't count them all. I'm overwhelmed!

4) Gifts for Today: i don't get exactly get what i wished for, but the Green Tea (Elizabeth Arden) perfume given by my husband is special!

5) What i did today: It's my birthday..i don't want to do anything. On pajamas the whole day, replying to all the FB greetings! hahaha.

Jaki's birthday is on the 27th. we were used to celebrate christmas on the 26th since sometimes even christmas day, my husband works. December 26 is a holiday in italy (Santo Stefano). 27th is a Monday (means working day), so we celebrated Jaki's birthday this Sunday.

TGIF #4: something on my birthday

i turned 39 yesterday. i'll do something fun or a special treat, i silently thought. i woke up around 6am and my hub's already having his coffee. he greeted and kissed me. "happy birthday...now, here's my credit card. buy what you want". ghee! would that mean i could buy diamonds? hahaha. my smile reached my ear. the dilemma begins: what do i buy - what do i like.

for today's five (it's friday again!), here are what happened on my birthday.

1.) i know our curtains are yelling for laundry for months, i'm just continuously ignoring their complains. i decided to clean the windows (yeah you heard it right!) it should have been my hub's job. anyway, i just did. what a nice day to start my birthday. i headed to my chinese friend's store and bought some curtains. i treated my windows a touch of lavander. cool!

2.) my son is at school. zendra and i headed to piazza duomo. my daughter haven't experienced feeding the doves herself. months ago, she panicked when doves surrounded her. i need to test her again. hurray! she wasn't scared at all. she enjoyed feeding the doves, and keeps on running around the wide space in front of the duomo di milano. she fell asleep on our way home.

3). for snack i bought 1 box of doughnuts. don't ask me how many minutes i finished the 6 doughs. =) for lunch i treated myself with one of my fave pinoy dishes, spicy bopis. i don't know how to cook that. i just bought it from my aunt tuding. i am so full, i could just burst. hahaha!

4.) i don't really celebrate my birthday. the last time i really had a party was when i turned 30. my colleagues at work contributed and bought me gifts. wow! what can i say? i got two United Colors of Benetton bags! a big black and a small white. yahooooooo! i love UCB!

5.) my mom cooked some pancit (rice sticks), and fried chicken. then my aunt patty baked a custard cake for me. we had a small party before work. i found a greeting poster on the wall next to my locker. i was really ecstatic! i wish i could live that long - 4 thousand years, giuliana wrote. she's american, but lived in italy for decades. she still remember speaking english though. the italians love the pancit. one of them, (patrizia, the blonde) kidded, (translated in english) "we've been eating this spaghetti di soia (pancit) for 10 years and we're somehow filipinized". not to mention the fried chicken. it can compete the KFC. =) mom's the best!

all in all, i had a great birthday. my heart can't contain my happiness.

i'm still flapping my hub's credit card.

hmmm...still thinking what to buy...
